Frequently Asked Questions
Does your waffle maker work on induction ranges?
We are pleased to share that The Great American Waffle Iron does work on many induction ranges. We have sold many waffle irons to customers with induction ranges that have reported great results. However, we have had reports from owners of Bosch induction ranges that it does not work directly. You may have success using an induction adapter. Appalachian Cast Iron does not have access to a Bosch unit to test. The waffle maker is suspended by the base about 1/2 inch above the cook surface if you would like to test your induction range prior to purchase.
I see a few shiny spots on my waffle iron, is this a defect?
Do your waffle irons contain lead or other heavy / harmful metals?
If I order today, will it ship today?
Our shipping times vary with our workflow. We are unable to promise same day shipping, (although it is a delight to see an order come in as we are packing.) Typically shipping will occur within 3 days to 2 weeks. It really depends on the overall workflow of the shop.
My waffle iron is bronze, not black. Is it really seasoned?
I am on a low fat diet and don’t use cooking spray. How do I use your waffle maker?
We produce a traditional waffle iron. We do not use any form on non-stick coatings like PTFE or Teflon. Traditional waffles contain a portion of cooking oil. Traditional waffle irons have a bit of oil applied to the cook surface, at least for the initial waffle. We recommend using an aerosol cooking spray because it provides very good atomization and an even LIGHT coat. If you are using a traditional waffle recipe with a portion of oil, you likely will not need to spray after every waffle.
We have not tested the waffle iron with a no-fat recipe and no cooking spray. It was not designed to be used that way. If you find a methodology that consistently produces excellent results, please share with us. We would like to share that with others that have similar concerns.
There is an unseasoned area on the face of the ball joint. Did the seasoning fail?
How much of your waffle maker is made in the USA?
We are thankful to say that every part of our waffle maker, and all of our cookware, is 100% made in the USA, of US origin materials.
